Lock your computer

When you leave your computer unattended, lock it in the normal Windows way: press Windows key + L, or press Ctrl-Alt-Del and pick "Lock this computer". After a few seconds, a sound indicates that your computer is armed.

Try out the alarm

Now that your computer is armed, you can test the alarm. You could for instance unplug the AC power cord or remove a USB device. A warning sound will indicate that you are about to trigger the alarm. If you don't restore the unplugged device within a few seconds, the alarm goes off. People nearby will receive an alert and your computer will sound a loud alarm. To silence the alarm, simply unlock your computer using your Windows password. It might be a good idea to inform nearby people before testing the alarm.
