Lock your computer
When you leave your computer unattended, lock it in the normal Windows way: press
Windows key + L, or press Ctrl-Alt-Del and pick "Lock this computer".
After a few seconds, a sound indicates that your computer is armed.
|
Try out the alarm
Now that your computer is armed, you can test the alarm. You could for instance
unplug the AC power cord or remove a USB device. A warning sound will indicate that
you are about to trigger the alarm. If you don't restore the unplugged device within
a few seconds, the alarm goes off. People nearby will receive an alert and your
computer will sound a loud alarm. To silence the alarm, simply unlock your computer
using your Windows password. It might be a good idea to inform nearby people before
testing the alarm.
